High School Young Artist Competition
The High School Young Artist Competition (HSYAC) is open to any flutist in grades 9–12 who has not previously won the first prize. This competition is part of the SEMFA Festival. Please plan to attend the entire day of the SEMFA Festival.
Six finalists will be selected on the basis of recorded auditions. Judges will award, at their discretion, first and second place cash prizes in the amounts of $500.00, and $300.00. The first place winner will perform in a masterclass for the festival guest artist.
The HSYAC has a $30.00 non-refundable application fee that can be paid via PayPal on the application.
Interested applicants should complete the HSYAC Online Application Form below and complete payment. Applications and Payment must be received by April 10, 2024 11:59 pm ET.
All applicants must be current SEMFA members.
Applicants are responsible for their own collaborative pianists.

Considerations
- Previous first place winners of the HSYAC are ineligible for this competition.
- The final round is open to the public.
- Finalists must provide their own accompanist.
- Finalists agree to appear at the SEMFA Festival at their own expense.
